Road Names Selected

On September 25th, the CDC launched a contest to name two roads at the mill site. One is the road on which the new fire station is located. The other is a cul-de-sac off of that road. You can see the map below.

Sixty submissions were received! In some cases, several people submitted the same names. Four judges were asked to rate their top five choices. This narrowed the field to eleven names. At the board meeting on Monday night, the CDC Board selected the two winners from this group. And the winners are: (drumroll please…)

Koso No’be Road (the turquoise colored road in the map) – in the Mono language this means Fire House. How appropriate for the road on which the new fire station is located.

Old Mill Road (the lavender colored road in the map) – This name honors the former use of the property and its historical importance to the town of North Fork.

The CDC Board of Directors thanks everyone who submitted names. There will be additional roads developed in the months and years ahead. The Board will save all of the names submitted for consideration when they are needed.
