Sierra Ambulance Service, Inc. is a non-profit organization providing paramedic ambulance service to the residents of eastern Madera County, including the North Fork area.
Sierra is interested in developing an ambulance/emergency services center at the North Fork mill site.
Sierra proposes to build a garage facility that would accommodate our ambulance(s) and possibly, fire department equipment as well. Sierra proposes to develop the site in phases. The first phase would see general site preparation, water, sewer and power infrastructure installation and would be followed by the construction of the apparatus building. This building would be roughly 100 feet by 60 feet. It would have space for four vehicles parked side by side with separate garage doors, and would include office space, a conference room and bathrooms.
Subsequent development phases will include the construction of 24 hour housing facilities for ambulance and fire personnel.
It is our desire and intent to make this facility available for lease to Madera County Fire so that we would share a common facility. Office space would also be made available to the Sheriffs Office as a place for patrol deputies to stand by and to complete paperwork, etc.
Such a facility would be a benefit to the entire community as it would enhance the ability of local emergency service personnel; paramedics, sheriff and fire, to provide services to the residents and visitors of the North Fork area.
The proposal to develop an emergency services center at the mill site has the support of the agencies involved, including Madera County Fire/CDF, the North Fork Volunteer Fire Company, the North Fork Fire Auxiliary, and the Sheriff's Department.
